Our Faculty

David Heidt: National Debate Tournament champion; coached several NDT champions; coached successful teams at Emory and Westminster to win most major national tournaments, including Harvard, The Harvard Round Robin, Emory, Greenhill, and New Trier, and top speakers at Emory, Greenhill, The Greenhill Round Robin, Michigan, Blake, and New Trier; coached the 2005 Tournament of Champions winner and 2007 top speaker and finalists.

Ed Lee: Coached 2007 NDT Champions; coached successful teams at Emory and Alabama to the late elims of most major national tournaments, including the semifinals of the NDT, Kentucky, Harvard, Wake Forest, and Fullerton, and the winners of Georgia State and West Georgia; widely recognized as one of the best judges in the debate community

James Herndon: One of the most successful high school debate coaches today; two-time GHSA State Champion coach and coach of 2007 Georgia All-State finalists; coached top seed and winners of the 2007 Glenbrooks tournament; qualified five teams to the 2007 Tournament of Champions; has coached teams to the semi-finals or better and top ten speakers of most major national tournaments; students have received full or partial debate scholarships to Emory, USC, Northwestern, Michigan State, Central Oklahoma, Georgia State, and UGA.

Hays Watson: Debated at Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama. 4-time qualifier at the National Debate Tournament, first-round bid recipient to the National Debate Tournament, invitee to the Kentucky and Dartmouth Round Robins. Has coached teams from Liberty University and the University of Georgia to the elimination rounds at many national tournaments.

Aimi Hamraie: 2007 National Debate Tournament Champion; coached the winners of the 2007 Greenhill, MBA, Berkeley, CPS Round Robin, and Grapevine tournaments and the 2nd speaker at Greenhill, first speaker at Emory; was in the quarters or semis of every major national tournament her senior year including Harvard, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Fullerton, West Georgia, and Northwestern; received speaker awards at most of those tournaments, including 3rd speaker at West Georgia; won the Glenbrooks and MBA tournaments, and was in the finals of St. Mark's.

Scott Phillips: Coached 2007 NDT Champions and St. Marks Champions; Semifinalist at the NDT; top speaker at most major national college and high school tournaments his senior years; winner of the Harvard, West Georgia, Kentucky Round Robin, CFL Nationals, St. Mark's, Greenhill, Valley, and the Michigan Round Robin.

Ana Nikolic: One of the most successful first-year college debaters this year, having cleared at national tournaments, appeared in the finals of UNLV, semis of Liberty, and qualified for the prestigious Wake Forest Tournament; 3rd speaker at Liberty; a successful, nationally competitive debater for Wayzata High School, for whom she competed at the TOC.
